During the early 1960’s, Jaguar, in a bid to be competitive in the world of sports car racing, crafted two lightweight aerodynamic versions of the their fabled E-Type called the Low Drag Coupes. These “factory” coupes were known as CUT7 and 4868WK. A third Low Drag, which was distinctly different from the factory cars, was crafted by an independent team headed by Dr. Samir Klat and Harry Watson. That car became known simply as 49FXN. Considered by many to be the most beautiful E-Type of all time, the Low Drag, and specifically the independently designed 49FXN, became the inspiration for designer Marco Diez.
